Bio

Abby Siegel has worked for more than a decade as a college guidance counselor, preparing high school students for success in college. After graduating from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, Abby moved to Chicago, Illinois. She attended graduate school at Loyola University Chicago where she obtained a Master of Education (M.Ed) degree in College Student Personnel and a Type 73 certificate in School Counseling. During her time at Loyola, Abby completed a graduate externship in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions where she counseled incoming freshmen. She also completed a practicum in the Office of Greek Affairs at Northwestern University. Abby satisfied her School Counseling practicum requirement during her year-long internship at Highland Park High School under the guidance of Jim Alexander, former President of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC). In addition, Abby received a Type 03 certificate in Elementary Education from DePaul University in Chicago.

After several years in Chicago, Abby left her position as a Guidance Counselor at Homewood-Flossmoor High School in Flossmoor, Illinois to move east to New York City. She worked at New Canaan High School in New Canaan, Connecticut for four years as a college guidance counselor before transferring to Stuyvesant High School in New York City. In her position as a college counselor Abby was able to focus solely on the college admissions process with her students and to form meaningful relationships with several college admissions offices. During her years as a college guidance counselor Abby has attended several workshops and seminars and participated in numerous college counselor tours.

Among Abby's achievements include being a recipient of the University of Miami's Excellence in Counseling Award in 2004, an honor she received after being nominated by one of her former students from NCHS. She is a member of the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA), the New York State Association of College Admissions Counselors (NYSACAC), the entrepreneurial group Ladies Who Launch, and is an Associate Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA).

Abby was raised in Westport, Connecticut and graduated from Staples High School.
